The course is taught in a variety of ways, depending on the topics being covered. Students are expected to complete all homework tasks as well as self study in preparation for the examined units. Discussions and presentations are a common feature in the lessons with visits from guest speakers. Students are expected to prepare in advance and be able to speak about a topic at the start of the lesson. What areas are covered by the course? Human Growth and Development and Factors Affecting This, Meeting Individual Care Needs, Working in Health and Social Care, and Sociological Perspectives.
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above (including English and Maths) is desirable. A BTEC Level 2 or GCSE Health and Social Care would be an advantage but not essential.
