Year 12 - topics studied include: Family and household issues such as Divorce rates, people wanting to live alone and how family may be harmful to it's members; The Education System - what is school? Why do girls out perform boys and does home life influence achievement?; Sociological Methods - Conducting research and using evidence to inform research. Year 13 - topics studied include: Beliefs in society - Sects and cults, declining church attendance and the future for religion; Crime, deviance and criminology - who commits crime? Media influence on crime rates and can crime statistics be trusted?
5 GCSE’s at grade 5+ (or Merit+ in equivalents). If the 5 passes does not include English (language or literature) and mathematics of grade 5+, students must, in addition, achieve at least a grade 4 in English (language or literature) and mathematics. Grade 4 or above in English language or English literature.
Examinations (three written papers of 2 hours).
