Students will develop useful practical skills in programming, whilst also looking at the broader academic concepts of computational thinking and computer systems. Students will learn how to solve problems with a logical and methodical approach, structuring solutions through the use of abstraction and decomposition. These are vital skills for important job roles in our future. The coursework element gives students vital experience in managing a large-scale software project, and helps build independent learning and self-management; all of which are essential skills for students looking to attend university. This A level would lead directly into subject related university courses and careers, and indirectly into a wide range of higher education courses and career choices.
