Physics is challenging. It takes an agile and dedicated mind, and an ability to follow a problem through to the very end. It needs a mind that can find the essential principles and ask the right questions in the right way. It needs a mind that can investigate the universe and understand what happens. Physics can lead to jobs in medicine, engineering, astronomy, transport, computing, telecommunications, aeronautics, nanotechnology, physiotherapy and journalism, as well as many branches of design and technology. This A level would lead directly into subject related university courses and careers, and indirectly into a wide range of higher education courses and career choices.
4 grade 4's and 2 grade 5's at GCSE, including grade 6 minimum in Physics or 6/6 in GCSE Combined Science
There are three papers of weighting (30%, 30% and 40%), each contributing to one third of the overall A level grade.
