The course will test programming ability as well as theoretical knowledge of Computer Science. The course covers a range of topics including: Fundamentals of programming, data structures, data representation and data bases. Systematic approach to problem solving. Theory of computation. Fundamentals of computer systems, computer organisation, functional programming and architecture. Consequences of uses of computing. Fundamentals of communication and networking. Big data.
5 GCSE’s at grade 5+ (or Merit+ in equivalents). If the 5 passes does not include English (language or literature) and mathematics of grade 5+, students must, in addition, achieve at least a grade 4 in English (language or literature) and mathematics. In addition, grade 6 or above in GCSE Mathematics and Grade 5 or above in GCSE Computer Science/Computing.
