Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and human and non-human behaviour. Students will follow the A Level AQA specification linear programme. The course consists of three papers covered over the two years. Paper 1: Introductory topics in psychology - Social influence - Memory - Attachment - Psychopathology Paper 2: Psychology in context - Approaches in psychology - Biopsychology - Research methods and inferential statistics Paper 3: Issues and debates and other options - Psychology of relationships - Forensic psychology - Schizophrenia - Issues and debates
5 GCSE’s at grade 5+ (or Merit+ in equivalents). If the 5 passes does not include English (language or literature) and mathematics of grade 5+, students must, in addition, achieve at least a grade 4 in English (language or literature) and mathematics. In addition, a grade 5 or above in English language or literature, grade 4 or above in mathematics and ideally a grade 4 or above in single science or combined science.
Three examination papers (Three 2 hour papers). Each paper is worth 33.3% of the A Level. Questions will consist of multiple choice, short answers and extended writing.
