Course summary

Product Design utilises a wide range of design disciplines but is firmly rooted in the skills required to design and make high quality products - products that are fit for purpose, satisfy wants and needs and most importantly give you the opportunity to demonstrate your design and technology capability. This course is broken into design theory and industrial practices but also allows for workshop activity in the production of students’ projects, specialising in materials that reflect student choice.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or equivalent, including English Language or Mathematics are required to study vocational subject. Requirements are higher for A Levels and subject specific grades apply for some subjects. Entry criteria will be discussed in more detail during your Sixth Form interview.

Component 1: Principles of Design and Technology - Written exam - 50% Component 2: Independent Design and Make Project - Controlled assessment - 50%
