This is a broad-based course exploring a range of media, processes and techniques. Work produced will be associated with two or more of the following: fine art, graphic communication, textile design, 3-dimensional design and photography. Any media, techniques or processes may be used including drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, fashion, graphic design, film, animation and installation. Written analysis of the work of other cultures, artists, designer, photographers and architects is essential as are visits to galleries and museums.
5 GCSE’s at grade 5+ (or Merit+ in equivalents). If the 5 passes does not include English (language or literature) and mathematics of grade 5+, students must, in addition, achieve at least a grade 4 in English (language or literature) and mathematics. In addition, GCSE pass in Art and Design at a Grade 4 or above. Students who have not studied art at GCSE will be required to present a portfolio of work.
Component 1 - 60% Personal investigation and development of an idea. To include a written communication of 3000 words. Component 2 - 40% Final 15 hour externally set assignment.
