Course summary

The Level 3 performing arts (dance or acting) course will provide you with the knowledge, skills, and understanding essential for you to progress to degree-level study and employment in the performing arts sector. You will learn through a variety of teaching methods which will aim to meet the needs of each individual but the majority of the sessions will be practical and much of the work will culminate in performance work to an audience. Alongside developing your performance skills this course will allow you to demonstrate transferable skills such as creative thinking, reflective learning, team-working, self-management, problem solving, and communication. This two-year course helps you become a versatile performer through the study of 12 units. Year 1 covers the following units: Unit 1 - Principles of Performance Unit 2 - Engaging with an audience Unit 3 - Introduction to Professional Practice Unit 4 - Critical and contextual awareness Unit 5 - Production skills and context Unit 6 - Performance skills and context Unit 7 - Preparation for Specialist Study Unit 8 - Collaborative Performance Project In year 2 you will study: Unit 9 - Developing performance and production skills Unit 10 - Preparing for progression Unit 11 - Exploration of specialist study and context Unit 12 - Extended project
