Course summary

Whether it's cells or the biological molecules that underpin all life, the genetics that give us our individuality, the ecosystems that cover the world or the homeostatic mechanisms that keep us alive, the A level in Biology is for anyone with an interest in the study of living things, and perhaps a future career involving biology.

Entry requirements

The entry qualifications for the Biology A level are five GCSEs at grades 5 or above (Old GCSE grade C or above) including Maths at grades 6 or above and any science GCSE at grade 6 or above (Old GCSE grade B or above) or equivalent.

How you'll be assessed

During the A Level in Biology you will be assessed through written examinations. At the end of the two academic years you will be assessed by three exams. You will have a Personal Tutor to help guide and support your learning. Information on study skills and access to study support groups is available if required.
