Course summary

The A level in Psychology aims to provide you with a broad understanding as to why we think and behave in the way that we do. Today psychology is seen as a science and you will be undertaking a scientific study of the brain and behaviour. You will learn to demonstrate an ability to analyse and evaluate psychological theories, findings and how to apply this knowledge.

Entry requirements

The entry qualifications for the A level in Psychology are five GCSEs at grade 5 or above (Old GCSE grade C or above) including Maths or any Science at grades 6 or above (Old GCSE grade B or above) or equivalent.

How you'll be assessed

During the A level in Psychology, you will be assessed through five written examinations. In your first year you will take two papers, and during your second year you will take three. You will have a Personal Tutor to help guide and support your learning. Information on study skills and access to study support groups is available if required.
