Specifications designed for you…. • Demonstrate their ability to construct and develop a sustained line of reasoning from an initial starting point to a final realization. • Research and develop ideas and relate their work in meaningful ways to relevant critical/contextual materials. • Demonstrate a critical understanding of contextual and other sources. • Substantiate decisions leading to the development and refinement of ideas. • Record ideas, observations, and insights relevant to intentions by reflecting critically on practical work. • Make meaningful connections between, visual, written, and other elements. All these factors are fundamental to a successful career path in Art and Design. In the second year of A-level year, students are expected to demonstrate a greater depth of study than in the first year of A-level This might be achieved by, for example: •• greater specialization in a particular medium or process. •• extended development of particular themes, ideas, concepts, or issues. •• further theoretical research and increased requirements to demonstrate understanding through integrated practical and written forms, and other means of communication. •• more rigorous exploration of inter-disciplinary or multi-disciplinary. This course provides solid and varied knowledge and is good preparation for a successful career. It also provides the necessary entry requirements for higher education courses. Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade 5 or above including English and Maths with grade 6 or above in Art if you wish to study the subject at A-Level.
