Course summary

As a student studying an A level in History, you will never experience the events that you study; you have to build up a picture from the available evidence. You have to be prepared to argue your case well and to use evidence to draw conclusions and make judgements. These skills are highly desirable in many different careers. History students are not just limited to history related jobs; many careers require skills from studying History, such as law, business, finance, tourism, politics, journalism and research.

Entry requirements

The entry qualifications for the A level in History are five GCSEs at grade 5 or above (Old GCSE grade C or above) including English at grade 6 or above (Old GCSE grade B or above).

You will be assessed by external exams, as well as continuous internal assessments.
