A level Sociology is a subject, which lends itself to healthy debate and discussion, and you are encouraged to use your own life experiences as a starting point to understanding our own society and the effects of others upon us. You will study topics such as families and households, education and sociological methods, beliefs in society and crime and deviance.
The entry qualifications for the A level in Sociology are five GCSEs at grades 5 or above (Old GCSE grade C or above) including English Language or Literature at grade 6 or above (Old GCSE grade B or above) or equivalent.
During the A level in Sociology, you will be assessed through five written examinations. In year 1 you will take two papers, and in your second year you will take three. You will have a Personal Tutor to help guide and support your learning. Information on study skills and access to study support groups is available if required.
