Use a range of techniques and 2D drawing media in order to record, observe and analyse. Research and evaluate manufactured artefacts, design and the practice of influential and established practitioners. Develop knowledge and understanding of materials, their properties and a range of manufacturing processes through sustained workshop practices. Develop designing skills and ideas for functional products which consider the user within a critical framework. All will have the opportunity to work with other practitioners and will be encouraged to create and take part in out of the classroom experiences, such as trips to draw and record observations visually, exhibition visits and workshops.
- Grade 5 is relevant GCSE Art and Design subject (*not including Catering/Hospitality) - At least grade 5 in both GCSE English Language and Maths as well as 3 other GCSEs at grade 5 or equivalent.
Two assessed components. Personal Investigation 60%) and externally set task (40%). Throughout the course you will build practical making skills in the workshop - supported by designing and research tasks. Year 12 starts with mini projects to build on workshop and making competency, these skills support the sustained project for component one and two.
