Units include: • application of psychological approaches • research methods • diagnosing and treating disorders • understanding and explaining behaviours and lifestyle choices which affect health and wellbeing. Applied psychology uses foundation theories which will allow you to consider explanations for behaviours such as aggression, mental health disorders, and health-related lifestyle choices. You will plan and carry out research, evaluating the strengths and limitations of conducting psychological studies. Volunteering or a work experience placement is a positive addition to your CV. You could also undertake an EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) which allows you to pursue your own research topic.
A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English language.
Assessments will comprise 60% personal investigation and 40% externally set practical exam. Your coursework is internally assessed and externally moderated.
