Drama and Theatre Studies
Course summary
To develop and apply an informed, analytical framework for making, performing, interpreting, and understanding drama and theatre. As a practical subject, Drama and Theatre Studies provides students with the opportunity to develop creatively and independently whilst allowing students to experience opportunities to perform published text and devised work. Students can also specialize in technical skills. An exciting and inspiring course that is designed to prepare students for study at A Level & Higher Education. Component 1: Performance Workshop Learners participate in the creation, development, and performance of one extract from a text and one reinterpretation of an extract from a second text using the working methods and techniques of either an influential theatre practitioner or a recognized theatre company. Component 2: Text in Context Learners will study one complete performance text. Component 3: Performance Workshop - students will produce a realization of performance and design. Component 4: Text in Action - students will perform a devised performance and an extract from a text Component 5: Text in Performance - students will study two complete texts and prepare for an unseen text for the written paper.
