This qualification provides an opportunity for students who are interested in the visual arts to explore, develop and test their creativity within a qualification structure that is stimulating and demanding. This qualification is appropriate for students who have an interest in the visual arts and who would like to develop skills, knowledge and understanding within this area. In the first year you will try a broad range of different processes from painting, printing and drawing to photography and working with digital media. Then in the second year, you'll get to decide which area of visual arts you'd prefer to specialise in. There will also be opportunities built into the course for you to meet and work with local artists, visit galleries nationally and immerse yourself in the creative world.
A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language. A GCSE art and design-based subject at grade 4 is also preferred, or a portfolio of evidence.
