The course is the AQA A level, covering a range of generally contemporary topics. A broad range of vocabulary and grammatical structures are reinforced. Listening, speaking, reading and writing skills will be developed using a wide range of resources and a variety of activities. Topics studies include: the changing nature of family, the 'cyber-society', the place of voluntary work, positive features of a diverse society, life for the marginalised, how criminals are treated, a culture proud of its heritage, teenagers, the right to vote and political commitment, demonstrations and strikes, politics and immigration.
5 GCSE’s at grade 5+ (or Merit+ in equivalents). If the 5 passes does not include English (language or literature) and mathematics of grade 5+, students must, in addition, achieve at least a grade 4 in English (language or literature) and mathematics. In addition, a minimum of a grade 5 in GCSE French is also required.
