Course summary

A Level Further Maths runs as an additional option to boost those already studying A Level Maths. It cannot be studied alone. It is recommended only to the most able students, who are contemplating a career or a degree course in a mathematical subject, engineering or computer science. Although it is possible to study for a Maths degree without having studied Further Maths, it is not recommended. Further Maths should be studied as a fourth A Level option. All students are asked to sit the AS Further Maths at the end of Year 12, in order to make an informed decision about continuing into the second year. In Year 2 especially, there is a significant amount of independent study expected of Further Maths students. We are also able to support students who are considering Maths degrees at the top universities. We run enrichment sessions on preparation for the university admissions tests (TMUA, AEA, MAT, STEP).
