It is designed for students with an interest in studying paths in the IT & the Computing sector alongside other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses. The objective of this qualification is to develop your knowledge and skills in IT and Computing. You will study the relationship between hardware and software, managing and communicating information and data, as well as the principles of designing and developing digital technologies to support businesses. You will discover how social media can be used in a business context. You will plan and implement social media activities in a functional business website to meet requirements and evaluate its effectiveness.

The Extended Certificate will be assessed using a mixture of internal and external assessment. 2 units are externally assessed by the examination board and 2 units are assessed internally at the college via assignment coursework. The course is made up of mandatory content (58%) which is internally assessed and (42%) external assessment.
