A-level biology is the study of life itself. The course explores the theories and principles involved in all living systems. Topics you will learn about include lifestyle, transport, genes and health, development, plants and the environment, the natural environment and species survival, energy, exercise and coordination, as well as practical biology and research skills. The course will provide you with the chance to gain a solid understanding of the principles of genetics, molecules, taxonomy, natural selection, evolutionary theory, global warming, bacteria, viruses, and more. You will build upon a lot of the knowledge and skills you gained during GCSE Biology as well as looking at: - DNA and RNA - Enzyme function - Organism classification - Reproductive strategies - You’ll also get the opportunity to design your own practical investigation around a topic you choose to really get stuck into the subject
You will need a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 5 or above, including maths and English. Ideally, core and no combined and the grade must be a 6 in Biology.
