Course summary

This course investigates how physiological, psychological and biomechanical factors combine together to influence the quality of performance in a variety of physical activities. It also investigates the sociocultural and historical effects on participation in physical activity and how performance can be improved through practice and by analysis and evaluation. In the practical unit, students will be assessed in their selected practical activity where they may choose between performing and coaching. You will develop the ability to use theoretical knowledge to analyze a sporting performance. You will develop your independent research and evaluative skills to prepare you for higher education in the Sport Science field of study. You will also develop your practical sporting skills within the practical module.
