The course follows the AQA specification (7162B) which covers a range of topics from the nature of law, how laws are made and applied through the legal system, to criminal law, the concept of liability in both criminal and civil law and the different ways cases are remedied. Four units are covered over the two year course: 1. The nature of law and the English legal system. 2. Criminal law. 3. Tort. 4. Human rights.
5 GCSE’s at grade 5+ (or Merit+ in equivalents). If the 5 passes does not include English (language or literature) and mathematics of grade 5+, students must, in addition, achieve at least a grade 4 in English (language or literature) and mathematics. In addition, a grade 5 or above in English.
Examinations (three two hour papers).
