Course summary

This engaging and practical course provides progression from the Level 2 Diploma. It will extend your skills as a beauty therapist by introducing you to a larger range of specialist beauty face and body treatments, including body massage, analysis enhanced with the use of mechanical massage, electrical face and body treatments incorporating advanced skin analysis and individual eyelash extensions. You will develop skills and knowledge in running a beauty business, including retailing and promotional activity, health and safety, and client care and consultation. This Level 3 Extended Diploma in Beauty Therapy provides progression from Level 2 Beauty Therapy. This engaging and practical vocational course will extend your skills as a Beauty Therapist by introducing you to a larger range of specialist beauty face and body treatments including body massage, electrical face and body treatments, spray tanning, individual eyelashes, retailing and promotional activity, health and safety, client care and consultation, and by giving you the opportunity to develop skills in the running of a beauty business. This increased depth of knowledge will prepare you for work in salons, hotels, health and fitness spas, airlines, cruise liners and department stores in the UK or overseas. A work placement is an essential feature of the course. It will give you a valuable insight into the commercial world of beauty therapy as well as looking great on your CV - thanks to strong links with local employers we can help set up this placement for you. Local industry professionals will also take part in the final assessment process to determine your final grade, these range from Pass to Distinction depending on your collective unit achievement Opportunities to shine will include encouragement to take part in internal and external skills events such as World skills UK.

Entry requirements

Successful completion of the Level 2 course, and English and maths GCSE at grade 4.

How you'll be assessed

Your knowledge and understanding in these units will be collected in a portfolio of evidence. Guidance for this will come from your assessor. Your assessor may also ask questions to confirm your knowledge and understanding. Your assessor will also observe your practical performance in one assessment. Your grade will be determined by achievement of assessment criteria and achievement of additional performance standards.
