Course summary

On our Level 3 UAL Performing Arts Acting course, you will develop contemporary, current, and relevant industry skills and knowledge as part of our forward-thinking artistic community. We explore putting the ‘business’ in ‘showbusiness’, various acting styles, methods, and techniques as well as skills for theatre and screen. We will provide you with the skills you need to adapt to the demands of an industry redefining itself in the post-COVID age. We help you gain skills in discovering where you want to specialize, through research, practical, and evaluative sessions, which will allow you to learn where you fit into the industry. Training with us allows you the freedom to experiment with a variety of different styles, methods, and performances, enabling you to begin to compile a varied, industry-relevant CV. We place great emphasis on the process of production – from improvisation to the realization of performance – through a series of different modules aimed at nurturing and promoting your creative talent. The Arts Centre boasts a faculty who are not only experienced industry professionals but also qualified teachers with specialized knowledge to ensure you are prepared for the industry and present yourself as an employable, ready-to-work-hard, resilient, and engaged creative. Training in Performing Arts teaches you a range of transferable skills such as organization, time management, and communication, which can cross over into a variety of skills and disciplines; Education, Production Management, Producing, Directing, as well as other creative industries such as PR, Journalism, and Hospitality. In a normal, non-COVID-19 world, we would require all students across Performing Arts to engage with responsibilities such as Front of House, Ushering, Box Office, and Backstage Assistance. In a COVID-19 world, we have pressed the pause button on our theatre for now, whilst everyone gets used to the new requirements and measures being taken. This means we can really hone and refine your technique, knowledge, and skills and build up to a fantastic 2021 Summer season!
