A Level Fine Art is for you if you want to stretch your artistic capabilities and take experimental risks in 2D and mixed media. Your focus is on materials, techniques and processes where you'll get the opportunity to combine media in inventive and non-traditional ways.
You will need a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 9-4 including an art based subject and English Language. At interview you are required to bring a portfolio / sketchbook of art work with you. You will also be required to complete a GCSE to A Level Transition Project prior to enrolment.
This is a two-year linear A Level where you are examined on the whole syllabus at the end of the second year. Each project is assessed as a portfolio of work. Work is assessed at the college and moderated by the exam board. To prepare for external exams, you will carry out a program of weekly tests, exam-style assessments, and Formal Progress Points where you will monitor your attendance, how hard you are working, and your academic progress. You will progress through a Year 1 Gateway that will allow you to progress to Year 2.
