If you enjoyed any sort of Design and Technology at GCSE this is definitely the course for you! You will be expected to work hard and will be taught many things to transform you into a designer. Topics you will study include: • Materials • Performance characteristics of materials • Processes and techniques • Digital technologies • Factors influencing the development of products • Effects of technological developments • Current legislation • Potential hazards and risk assessment • Features of manufacturing industries • Further processes and techniques • Designing for maintenance and the cleaner environment • Information handling, Modelling and forward planning You will also be taught how render designs using spirit markers, use industry-standard 3D CAD software and many practical techniques whilst designing and making different products.
For A-Level study we require a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4+ in five different subjects including English language and Maths. We accept short course GCSE grades as part of the entry requirements.
