Course summary

This course is perfect if you have successfully completed the Level 2 Site Carpentry course and wants to improve your prospects and enter the construction industry at a more qualified level. You will be able to construct door frames, partition walls, roofing, floor joists and lay flooring. You will become familiar with fixed and transportable machinery and fully understand the principles of building construction. There will be opportunity to improve your employability skills during work placements. During this advanced carpentry course you will fine tune your skills in our purpose built workshop and become adept at building and installing first and second fix fittings. You will be able to construct door frames, partition walls, roofing, floor joists and lay flooring. There will be opportunity to improve your employability skills during work placements before you head off and start your career as a carpenter. You will cover topics including: • Health, safety and welfare in construction • Principles of building construction • Carry out first fix flooring and roofing • Carry out first fix frames, partitions and stairs • Carry out second fixing double doors and mouldings • Set up and use fixed and transportable machinery
