This A Level provides opportunities to study a range of plays from different genres as an actor, designer and director. It will enable students to acquire a knowledge and understanding of the language of drama and theatre, and develop their performance and analysis skills. Study at this level requires the will and ability to work collaboratively and independently. You will learn how to devise an original group performance using a play and a practitioner as stimuli. You will also learn about practical exploration of key extract from one play as well as prepared a group performance/design realisation of this key extract. You will also learn a monologue or duologue performance and design realisation of one key extract from a different performance text. In the Live Theatre component students reflect on their experience as an audience and analyse and evaluate a live theatre performance.
We ask that all students achieve grade 4 or equivalent (a Level 2 pass) in at least 4 subjects, alongside the following subject specific entry requirements: • Grade 4 in Theatre Studies or Grade 4 in English.
