Students will gain a thorough understanding of the wider context in which businesses operate and of business functions and their interdependencies. The individual units cover how legal, financial, ethical and resource constraints affect business behaviour, the influence that different stakeholders have and how businesses must respond to a changing economy. Students will develop transferable skills that are highly valued by Higher Education and employers such as communication, planning, teamwork, research and analysis. We use a wide variety of materials, resources and learning opportunities to ensure that students develop their knowledge and skills for success in their chosen qualification. For example, visiting speakers from industry, trips, discussions about topical business news stories, internet research, competitions and enterprise activities. When combined with other qualifications, this course will provide learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding to progress into Higher Education (HE) on a business related programme such as Business, Business Management, Marketing, Business and Finance, Business and Economics and Accounting. The Business Studies Department welcome motivated and committed students who want to achieve their very best and gain qualifications that will be relevant now and in the future.
- At least 5 passes at GCSE grade 4-9 to join the sixth form, however most A Level subjects require students to have grade 5 in Maths and English.
