Course summary
A Level English Language and Literature presents clear continuity from GCSE English and GCSE English Literature with the study of literary and non-fiction written and spoken texts. The course will develop your creativity and expertise by producing your original writing. You will develop a clear understanding of the functions and usage of language for a variety of purposes and you will need to be a keen reader who is prepared to take on some challenging texts. Over the course’s four modules you will study a range of texts drawn from famous works of literature, non-fiction writing, scripts, transcripts, and graphic novels. You will be working with Shakespeare and Twitter feeds, The Great Gatsby and Jeremy Paxman. This will be combined with your creative writing over three distinct exams and one coursework portfolio.
