Business Studies
Course summary
BTECs are widely recognized by industry and higher education as the vocational alternative to A Levels. We offer two options – the Extended Certificate (equivalent to one A Level) or the Diploma (equivalent to two A Levels). The content reflects the demands of employers and universities and has a mixture of internal and external assessments. Assessment is through coursework, controlled assessments, and a written exam. There is also a requirement for students to participate in practical activities such as helping to organize an event and taking part in mock interviews for recruitment. In Year One, you will learn about a variety of types of business, how to develop effective marketing communications, and the importance of budgeting and financing a business. In Year Two, you will build on your skills from Year One and study international business, digital marketing, and event organization. During your two years of study, you will undertake a work placement. You will also hear from a variety of industry speakers and attend master classes, workshops, trips, and conferences.
