This practical course will improve your language skills while gaining an understanding of the modern society, cultural background, and heritage of France. You will learn to speak and write at length in French about all aspects of French society and culture. You will learn about the language and the culture of France and French-speaking countries including a range of cultural, social, and political topics. You will also study a contemporary film and novel. In doing so, you will refine and extend your ability to read, write, speak, and listen with accuracy, fluency, and confidence. You will also gain a solid grounding in French grammar.
For a mixed programme of A Levels and BTEC Level 3 courses you must have five GCSEs grade 4 and above which could include one BTEC and either GCSE English or Maths as appropriate for your chosen courses. Requires GCSEs in French at grade 6 and English language at grade 4, plus the standard entry requirements of an A Level or mixed programme.
All four skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) will be assessed at the end of the course. Assessment methods will include translation, research, presenting and speaking, writing, and listening/reading comprehension.
