This course is for you if you found GCSE Maths easy, love algebra, and can’t wait to have at least half of your timetable devoted to learning new, exciting maths topics. This course comprises two A Levels, so it occupies two of the subject choices on your timetable. Be prepared for a real challenge, but also to have fun and meet like-minded academic students. You will study a combination of pure maths, mechanics, and statistics over two years. Pure mathematics will extend what you have learned at school, as well as introduce you to important new ideas and methods. In mechanics, you will learn how to apply mathematics in the physical world to describe the motion of objects and how they respond to forces acting upon them. Your study of statistical models to analyze real-world data and make predictions about future trends. During your two years of study, you will undertake a work placement. You will also hear from a variety of industry speakers, visit career fairs, and attend workshops, trips, and visits.
To study a standard A Level programme (three A Levels) you must have a minimum of five GCSEs grade 4 and above including English and Maths. Requires a GCSE in maths at grade 7, plus the standard entry requirements of an A Level or mixed programme.
A Level Mathematics – three two-hour exam papers at the end of your second year. A Level Further Mathematics – four 90-minute exam papers at the end of your second year.
