Criminology is the scientific study of crime and criminals looking at the different aspects of criminal investigations and how crime is perceived. In year 1, you will study the psychological and sociological theories of crime as well as how crime is perceived in society and the impact of the media and crime statistics. In year 2, you will investigate the different techniques used in a criminal investigation such as forensics, policing, and the judiciary process. You will also consider the effectiveness of different strategies used to reduce criminality from custodial sentences and the impact of community orders.
Requires four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English language or English literature at grade 5, and may include a BTEC at a merit or above.
This applied general qualification is a WJEC Level 3 Diploma (equivalent to one full A-Level). You will be assessed through written exams and controlled assessment.
