The BTEC Applied Science Level 3 uses a combination of assessment styles to give students the confidence to apply their knowledge to succeed in the workplace and have the study skills to continue learning throughout their career. Over 75% of the assessment is by internally assessed coursework, so it is a good option for students who are less confident in taking examinations. The course covers a wide range of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Science topics giving an excellent foundation for many university courses or jobs. Students will cover topics such as scientific principles associated with the application of biology, chemistry and physics, experimental and practical techniques related to applied science, the roles and skills of scientists, and the public and media perception of science.
5 GCSE’s grade 4 or above. In addition, Grade 4/4 GCSE Combined Science.
One third of the assessment is by exam and two thirds by internally assessed coursework. This qualification is the equivalent of one A level.
