During this course, you will gain a detailed understanding of every aspect of the dance world. This will allow you to develop yourself as a performer and expand your knowledge of the development of dance in a wider context. This A Level forms an excellent foundation for the study of dance at a higher level. This qualification is designed for candidates with a substantial dance background. Candidates are required to: choreograph, perform, and analyze solo and group dances, study various dance works in depth (which includes observational dance trips and workshops), and examine the development of dance with a focus on specific dance practitioners. You must be prepared to write essays as this is an essential element of the course.
At least 5 GCSEs graded 9-5 including Dance and English at grade 4 or above and/or other substantial Dance experience or examinations.
Component 1: Performance and Choreography - Practical exam - Solo performance, performance in a quartet, and group choreography. Component 2: Critical Engagement - Written exam: 2 hours 30 minutes - Understanding and critical appreciation of two set works.
