Art and Design (Fine Art)

Course summary

This course builds on and extends core Fine Art skills, alongside developing your creativity, expression, imagination, critical and contextual understanding. The emphasis of the first year is underpinned by core Fine Art skills, achieved through experimentation and exploration of a broad range of materials, techniques and processes. You will engage with the works of artists and designers which encourages a written critical response and enables you to analyse the way you work to inform and develop your personal work into an extended exploratory portfolio. The second year focuses on developing and extending existing creative skills. You are encouraged to develop an independent approach to the subject, demonstrating continued critical understanding, supported by integrated written engagement with the works of artists and designers to inform and develop work which has a personal significance and major in-depth, practical and theoretical investigation.
