The course we follow is Level 3 CTEC Sport and Physical Activity. The course is graded Dist* (A* at A level), Dist (A), Merit (C), and Pass (E). ● Across the 2 years, you will learn about the following areas: Body Systems and the effects on physical activity, Sports Coaching and Leadership, Sports Organisation and Development, Organisation of an Event, and Sports Injuries and Rehabilitation. ● The course consists of 5 units where 2 are externally examined. The other 3 units are internally assessed. ● During the course, lessons will involve a number of differing delivery styles including Discussion and group work, lab Investigations and dissections, practical coaching and leadership, visits to local sports facilities, and practical performance and testing. ● The PE Department has a strong record of success with all qualifications delivered. Many successful students go on to University to study sport-related qualifications or directly in to work within the sports ● To study Sport you should enjoy finding out about and understanding all aspects of sport and physical performance, whether that be physical, anatomical, cultural, historical, or related to the sports industry. (NB* you will not be judged on your practical ability within a given sport). ● Research and individual study is an important part of Level 3 Sport – you should also be prepared to work with others to produce presentation materials and in some cases lead lessons. ● Level 3 Sport can be combined
Minimum Grade 4 in English and Maths.
The course is 60% coursework and 40% exams. The exams can each be retaken once and the best mark counts. The coursework is internally marked within the school, and externally moderated.
