The A Level is structured into four themes: Marketing and people, Managing business activities, Business decisions and strategy, Global business. 5 GCSE's at grade 4 and above including a 5 in Business Studies/Merit in Enterprise and a 5 in English Language and Maths.
There are three externally assessed papers at A Level. Each paper comprises 100 marks and are two hours in duration. There is a mix of data response questions that are of the short answer nature and extended open response questions. The A Level Paper 3 has a broad pre-released context to support the investigative nature of the qualification. This pre-release will help learners contextually prepare for the exam ahead. There is no external assessment at the end of the first year; the full A Level is achieved with the successful completion of the examinations at the end of year two. To achieve the full A Level under the new regulations you will need to take all of the assessed units together at the end of the second year of the course, including a repeat of those taken at the end of Year 12. The course has opportunities to attend extra-curricular trips, including revision workshops and attending businesses for contextual experience.
