Course summary
What is Psychology? This subject is within the ERS & Social Sciences Faculty and is the study of human behaviour. We aim to understand who we are, why we think the way we do and why we behave the way we do. It is suitable for any student who is interested in the brain and human behaviour. Psychology combines well with other social sciences including Sociology, Religious Studies, Criminology, and Politics. But will also combine well with any other literacy and humanities-based subject such as History, Geography or English. All students will have 5 lessons per week and may have more than one teacher for this subject. This is a two-year qualification. The course is as follows: AQA A Level 7182: Paper 1: Introductory topics in Psychology - Social Influence, Attachments, Memory, Psychopathology Paper 2: Psychology in context- Approaches in Psychology, Biopsychology & Research Methods. Paper 3: Issues & Options in Psychology- Issues & Debates in Psychology, Gender, Schizophrenia & Forensic Psychology. All students will study for and sit all the above topics in their exams.
