The Social Care BTEC Extended Diploma is a comprehensive programme designed to provide students with a solid foundation in the field of social care. Units include anatomy and physiology, development through the life stages, safe practice, research methods, dementia care, mental health, psychological perspectives, sociological perspectives and working with additional needs. As part of this study programme, you will develop your maths, English, and digital skills, attend tutorials and Sim practical sessions. You will also complete industry work placements and build a vocational portfolio over the two-year programme. This gives you the opportunity to gain your care certificate. All aspects of your study programme will be discussed at your interview.
You will require five GCSEs at grade 9-4, including English, or a relevant Level 2 qualification.
We’ll assess your coursework (projects, assignments, and presentations) and your practical activities both in college and at your industry placement. There are also four exams over the two years.
