Course summary
A level French offers students a rich and comprehensive insight into the social, political, intellectual, and artistic culture of the countries and communities where French is spoken. Students will develop their knowledge and understanding through speaking, listening, reading, and writing in French. The study of literature and film will allow students to analyse language structures and increase their cultural and grammatical awareness. The course has a very strong focus on building students’ confidence and fluency in spoken and written French. Students will develop a range of other skills including independent research and critical and analytical thinking skills. There are four themes, one of which is the historical study of France from 1940 to 1950. This will include significant events which have helped shape the country.
