Course summary
The course is based on the interaction between the theory and practice of Physical Education. The content has been designed to allow students to study Physical Education (PE) in an academic setting, enabling them to critically analyse and evaluate their physical performance and apply their experience of practical activity in developing their knowledge and understanding of the subject. A Level Physical Education covers physiological factors affecting performance, applied anatomy and physiology, exercise physiology and biomechanics. Psychological factors affecting performance include skill acquisition and sports psychology. Socio-cultural issues in physical activity and sport include contemporary issues in sport and society. Students can be assessed in the role of performer or coach in one activity, and also are required to provide an oral response analysing and critically evaluating their peers’ performance.
