Course summary

Sociology will provide you with many ways of viewing society. • It will open your eyes to different cultures, lifestyles, belief systems and values that exist in the world today. • You will look beyond common sense assumptions about society as Sociology helps you to develop an objective approach, where you learn to evaluate evidence before coming to a reasoned conclusion.

Entry requirements

- Minimum prior attainment which must be achieved to enrol on this course: APS of of 5.5 including grade 6 or above in English at GCSE - Best 8 APS of 5.5+, including grade 5 in GCSE English & Maths. If you have studied a subject at GCSE and wish to study it at A Level, a minimum of a grade 5 pass is required.

How you'll be assessed

• Component 1 Education with Theory and Methods 2 hour written exam • Component 2 Topics in Sociology (Families and Households and Beliefs in Society) 2 hour written exam. • Component 3 Crime and Deviance with Theory and Methods 2 hour written exam
