This course will suit you if you are interested in the fast moving world of technology; are genuinely excited about prospects for the future in an ever expanding diverse sector; are interested in how computer systems work and the underlying principles behind software development. Lessons are split into roughly half; practical lessons are focused on getting your programming skills up to speed, so there a re lots of short problems to solve; designed to familiarise you with the language and the techniques used to write complicated programs. Lessons that introduce theoretical concepts are very varied, again there are lots of practical exercises, but these are often used to illustrate some of the key concepts you need to be familiar with. This is real theory, the key ideas behind what is, and isn't computable. You will also undertake a major practical programming project, finding a client, finding out what they want and they you will code the solution.
- 5 GCSEs at grade 5 and above this must include GCSE Maths and GCSE English (Language or Literature)
50% Examination, 40% on-screen Examination, 20% Coursework.
