Law
Course summary
The coherent operation of a country's legal system is fundamental to its success. Having a grasp of the law, not just in terms of what it is, but also how it is made, one can begin to realise how a society can be strengthened and the important role and individual can play in this collective endeavour. By studying Law, you will acquire knowledge, understanding and critical awareness of the structure, personnel and functions of the English Legal System. A heavy emphasis will be placed on current affairs in order to give a real sense of how the law works in everyday society. You will cover topics including the nature of law and the English Legal System, Criminal Law, Tort Law and Human Rights. The Human Rights element of the course is a welcome addition to the law specification and allows you to explore how human rights are recognised in both theory and practice.
