Physics
Course summary
Physics is a challenging but rewarding subject covering everything from the birth of the Universe to the death of stars, from the tiniest sub-atomic particle to the entire Cosmos. Physics at this level is a subject for a thinking person. The course is structured so as to foster the knowledge and understanding of concepts rather than simply the ability to remember facts. This clearly should be to your liking if you enjoy developing basic ideas and applying them to new situations. Physics is about making predictions, testing them through observations and measurements, and devising theories and laws to make more predictions. It is a practical subject. Throughout the course you will carry out practical activities that will develop your skills and confidence needed to investigate how living things behave and work. There is no coursework at Physics A level; however, your practical skills will be assessed throughout the 2 years by your subject tutor during a series of essential practical skills, which are linked to theory.
