The travel and tourism industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the UK. The value of tourism to the UK economy is approximately £126 billion, and the sector employs around 3.1 million people. The qualification also provides the knowledge, understanding and skills that will prepare you for further study or training in a range of different sectors including business, management, marketing, hospitality and leisure, in addition to travel and tourism. The entry requirements for this course are 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including Maths and English Language.
Unit 1 – The World of Travel and Tourism is assessed through a written exam Unit 2 – Global Destination is assessed through a controlled assessment task based around a pre-release. The 4 other units will be assessed internally through a range of different tasks.
